UV systems
Ultraviolet light destroys the ability of microorganisms to reproduce. It uses no chemicals and alters neither the taste nor the chemistry of the water; in return it provides no lasting protection in the network and its effectiveness depends on the clarity of the water.
Ultraviolet disinfection inactivates micro-organisms without adding any chemical or oxidant to the water. A UV lamp inside a quartz sleeve delivers a controlled UV dose to the water passing through the chamber.
UV-C light at around 254 nm passes through the cell wall and damages the DNA, so the organism loses its ability to reproduce. A properly sized system achieves around 99.9% disinfection efficiency.
Units are available with connections from 1/2 to 6 inch and can be used on any water with a high microbiological load. In return they leave no residual protection in the line, and their effectiveness depends on water clarity.
