Membrane cleaning (CIP) chemicals
Acidic or alkaline cleaning chemicals according to the type of fouling. The wrong chemical can damage the membrane instead of removing the fouling.
Even with effective pre-treatment and conditioning, UF, NF and RO membranes eventually foul and performance starts to fall.
CIP chemicals remove organic fouling, metal hydroxides such as iron, calcium carbonate scale and silica deposits from the membrane surface, extending membrane life. Products covering various pH ranges are available for RO, UF and other membrane types.
If the type of fouling is misread, the chosen chemical can damage the membrane instead of cleaning it; that is why analysis before a clean matters.
